In the first game after Spring Break, the Saluda girls varsity soccer team dropped an away non conference match to Mid Carolina. Mid Carolina jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half of play in a lackluster half of soccer by the Tigers. The second half of play saw the Tigers start to roll as the team evened the score off of goals by Yissel Bello and Grace Hipp. They were assisted on the goals by Belen Juarez and Bailey Will. At the end of regulation the teams were both knotted at 2 a piece. In the first overtime period, Mid Carolina attacked the keeper Alondra Acevedo. Acevedo challenged but was yellow carded in what appeared to be a 50/50 challenge. Having to leave the game for the PK, Flor Sanchez the back up keeper was called into play. Guessing right and diving to the correct side Sanchez deflected the shot but it still rolled in the back of the net. Down 2-3 the Tigers pressed the rest of OT. They attacked and controlled possession but at the end of the second OT period the scoreboard remained the same. The Tigers dropped to 6-4 overall and 2-3 in the region.
